White Statuary Marble Chimneypiece

A white statuary marble chimneypiece, originally located in a fine Belgravia house. Sold by Crowthers of Syon Lodge in the 1970s to a large private residence in Hampstead.

The jambs comprise carved classical figures standing on dwarf fluted plinths with a Greek key border above. The centre panel of the frieze illustrates a reclining Britannica and cherub with fluted panels either side of the central plaque echoing the plinth detail.
